Getting on with everybody else at school

You won’t be friends with everyone at school, but you do need to get along with them.

You will get on better if you behave well and don’t:

  • gossip or spread rumours, in person or online. This won’t help your reputation, or make you feel happier about yourself.
  • pre-judge other people or groups of people. Keep an open mind and look for what you have in common.
  • let minor incidents or annoyances get to you.
  • make school your whole universe. Try to keep a full life outside, with family, non-school friends, and other interests.

Other people may not always behave well; find help in dealing with this in our pages on cliques, non-friends and bullying.
