You won’t be friends with everyone at school, but you do need to get along with them.
You will get on better if you behave well and don’t:
- gossip or spread rumours, in person or online. This won’t help your reputation, or make you feel happier about yourself.
- pre-judge other people or groups of people. Keep an open mind and look for what you have in common.
- let minor incidents or annoyances get to you.
- make school your whole universe. Try to keep a full life outside, with family, non-school friends, and other interests.
Other people may not always behave well; find help in dealing with this in our pages on cliques, non-friends and bullying.
