Good relationships with employers

If you have a job, you need to get on well with the person you’re working for. The exact relationship will depend on your age, the job, and whether you already know that person (for example, if you’re babysitting for a parent’s friend).

But in all cases it will be best if you :

  • keep the relationship professional
  • do what you’re supposed to do
  • ask if you don’t know what to do
  • admit straight away if you’ve made a mistake.

You may like your employer but remember they are not your friend. It’s generally much better if you make a clear separation between your social life and your work life.
