Sometimes your period will fall when you are going to be away on a school trip or on holiday and this can be worrying. It is usually possible to manage your periods wherever you are and whatever you are doing, especially if you are able to use tampons rather than pads. But occasionally, you may travel to somewhere extremely remote where you have no access to facilities for personal hygiene.
It is possible to postpone your periods by taking progesterone hormones or even by taking a contraceptive pill. However, taking hormones is never without risk and they can make you feel hormonal (more emotional) which may slightly spoil your trip. They are also not always 100% effective and can cause your period to come along early.
If you wish to postpone your period, discuss the options with your GP. They will be able to advise you on the best course of action for you.
