Dog-walking and pet-sitting

As with babysitting, you will probably start by looking after the pets of friends
or neighbours – walking a dog or feeding a cat. Do as good a job as you can and you might find yourself recommended to others.

You can also advertise locally, on Facebook or by a notice in your local shop. Think specifically about what you do and don’t want to offer. Remember that you will not be able to walk dogs during the daytime while you’re at school.

How much pay?

Professional dog-walkers can apparently charge £10 or more per hour, but you need to adapt your prices to what people around you can pay; as with babysitting, try to find a price which makes both sides happy.

Things to remember

Pet-owners can be very attached to their pets, so make sure you understand and follow any particular requests (even if they seem ridiculous).
