Find out as much as you can

For apprenticeships – look at the UCAS page and the Government apprenticeship pages to see what’s available and what’s involved
Some jobs and apprenticeships are very competitive; see specifically what they’re looking for and do your best to meet their needs.
Talk to your school or college, friends or family, people you know, local employers
